Hurstbridge C.W.A.

Hurstbridge C.W.A is a small group of active women who meet on the third Wednesday of each month. We discuss such things as women's issues, share craft ideas and exchange bakery tips. A large part of our time is dedicated to raising funds for charity. We hope you enjoy looking at our website and visit often.

Next meeting is June 17th. . . . .     Our competition is to bring along a recycling tip to share. . . . . . .       Jenny's turn to bring along supper . . . . .        see you then . . .

May

May is our birthday month we have been meeting for eight years now and I think our group is stronger than ever. For a birthday treat we invited  Jan Kerr a Decoupage artist, to show us her skills in the art. Jan's demonstrated how to make a tile. She also had some beautiful table mats, tray and jewelry to show us. Her work was sensational. May has also been the weather for coughs and colds and we had a few members away. Hopefully everyone will be back on their feet for the June meeting. Bye for now.

February, March & April  Chatter

Our first meeting for the year was taken up discussing what we could do for the  bush fire victims. Many of us knew many of the people that lost their lives, homes and possessions. It was a devastating act of nature that nobody could ever dream would happen. And has had a profound impact on the local community. It has been wonderful to see everybody rally around helping those in need. I feel privileged that Hurstbridge CWA has been one of them. Members have been distributing quilts made by the Essendon Quilters, baking cakes for the local school and helping out at fundraisers. We managed to get a sewing package to one of our members that lost their house  and offered support where needed.

April was probably our busiest month in terms of normal business. It was the time for the Diamond Valley Home Craft and Industries Exhibition. It was pleasing to see many of our members gained places for their items and our own group table received 3rd prize in craft. Unfortunately as beautiful as our baking table looked, we did not receive anything.

Next month is our birthday celebration meeting and bring along a friend night. We will be having a demonstration of Decoupage by Jan Kerr followed by a light supper.

January Chatter

The first meeting of the Nit, Stitch and Natter group took place on Tuesday the 21st January. It was very pleasing to see so many people turn up. We have decided to give the group their own page . So take a peek when you have a moment.

Don't forget we have our group conference on Thursday12th February and Hurstbridge are hosting it this year. Donna will be emailing members requesting volunteers for various jobs, so look out for that.

Our first meeting for the year is on Wednesday Feb 18th. Competition is "Our favourite holiday pic"

It has saddened us to hear that our beloved donkey Adam passed away in November. Adam had many bouts of colic in recent years. This time however despite intensive treatment, he did not fully improve.  The vets decided he needed surgery to clarify the cause of colic only to find extensive cancer.

Adam passed away 18th Nov.

All at Hurstbridge CWA wish to thank the Donkey Shelter for all the love and care that they gave to Adam.
